Daniel Mondragon

Daniel Mondragon played 4 years under NAIA hall of fame coach Steve Ridder at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. During his junior campaign Daniel Mondragon became the first walk-on in program history to be named a starter for the eagles. In 2 years as a starter Dan Mondragon averaged 9.5 PPG and 4.5 APG. The two year recipient of the Cassie Russel champion of character award led his team to a conference championship and national tournament berth in 2013 by defeating Northwood University on their home court in double over time. Upon graduation Dan Mondragon joined coach Ridder and the Eagle's staff as a graduate assistant and would earn his master's degree in leadership. His main responsibilities included player development of the eagles backcourt (which featured NAIA All-American Deforest Carter), Scouting of opponents, Program administrative duties, and logistics. Mondragon would remain on staff for 3 years before becoming DME's first head high school coach in the programs first year. After only winning 5 games in the first year, DME High school national game won 21 games in just its second year with marquee wins over The Rock and West Oaks Academy, and a final four finish in the SIAA State Tournament. Mondragon is in his third year the helm of DME's High School National program and hopes to compete for an SIAA state and Grind Session World Championship.
